Aumônerie Evangélique Universitaire de la Réunion

Aumônerie Evangélique Universitaire de la Réunion (AEUR) is a student ministry on Réunion Island, which is located in the Indian Ocean. Despite its great distance from mainland France, the island is an overseas department and therefore fully French in social systems and many aspects of daily life.

The University of Reunion hosts around 19,000 students each year, a figure which can swell to as much as 25,000 with the post-baccalaureate programs.

To reach these students, AEUR offers support at each of the five campuses in many ways:

• Prayer meetings, worship services, Bible studies, and sharing groups

• Welcome, listening, pastoral support, spiritual guidance, individual mentoring

• Conferences, retreats, leadership training, and spiritual weekends

• Bibles, educational tools, digital resources, and logistical support for new groups

• Mission trips for establishing, supporting, and mentoring student groups in various French cities

AEUR partners with local churches and student networks to develop national and regional events promoting evangelism, spiritual growth, and the creation of new student initiatives. They work to train leaders who can implement new activities and equip local teams.

Currently, AEUR has contact with 200-300 students throughout the year, of which approximately 100 regularly attend Bible studies and other ongoing meetings.
