Eglise de la Baie de Somme

For almost 50 years, the Church of the Bay of Somme has been established in this region of northern France. There is no other Christian witness within a 50-kilometre radius!

Walking together with Christ is at the very heart of who they are. They want to be a caring and welcoming church, rooted in the Gospel, listening to God and His Word, and committed to standing alongside those around them.

Their desire is to be a pathway to God, so that their friends, colleagues, and neighbours may encounter Jesus Christ, and that His name may be known and honoured in Picardy, a region where evangelical Protestant presence is among the weakest in France.

Two years ago, after several months of prayer, the church unanimously decided to sell its church building. It had become too small, too costly, and was limiting their development. Within just one week, the building was sold! At the same time, they actively began searching for a new place of worship. After visiting several potential locations, God led them to a building next to Abbeville Hospital, in a busy and well-frequented area. This building, formerly a café/bar, perfectly matches their vision and the way they want to serve their city and their region.

Located in the heart of a residential neighbourhood and along a busy road with significant traffic and pedestrian activity, this new facility will enable them to proclaim the Gospel to young people, train believers for God’s work, welcome those who are searching, those who are questioning or going through difficult times, support people in need, and worship God in a building that will be twice as spacious and accessible to everyone.

The Church of the Bay of Somme has been working on this project for several months. Today, they are able to finance the purchase of the building in its current condition, but they need your support and prayers so that this project can be fully completed. The renovation work has already begun! They need 40.000€ to finish the work!
