Église Évangélique Baptiste – Moret Loing et Orvanne (Veneux)
The city of Moret Loing et Orvanne has about 10,000 inhabitants and is located near the city of Fontainebleau where Louis XIV signed the “édit de Nantes” which started the persecution of Protestants in France, many of whom were forced to exile.
Today the region of 100,000 inhabitants (45 minutes to Paris) suffers from a large number of problems, including social inequality, solitude, and prostitution. A newspaper headlined: “the Fontainebleau forest is the largest open-air sex supermarket in France”. On a spiritual level, the population is represented by a majority of agnostic, historical Catholics, a big Buddhist center, multiple Jehovah’s Witness communities and the progression of Islam. The department of Seine et Marne is one of those with the least doctors in France. In the same time, we see many occult cabinets setting up as healers, reiki master, magnetizers. The Christian witness is still not very visible but the church is growing in maturity and in new disciples of Christ! Our hope is to see Christ change hearts, restore many people and transform the area context!
After 30 years of growth and one church plant (Donnemarie Dontilly) in a region of 100,000 inhabitants, we need to move into a larger building. Our current building was a nightclub fit out for a church in 1991 and can only hold 80 people. Now we have 160 people coming together for worship services. God give us creativity but it is time for a new solution. The Lord is bringing tremendous growth year after year and we need to act because our building is an obstacle to this growth! The COVID-19 pandemic has pushed us to urgently buy a building to spread the gospel in words and deeds. We have some opportunities to build a great visible church but we need a significant financial input to start the project.
Thank you for supporting this flourishing work in Fontainebleau area and the future church’s extensions in south and west Paris!
