Étincelle School

Étincelle school (Spark school) opened its doors in 2015, to offer a school accessible to all, where students thrive and learn enthusiastically in a caring environment that respects diversity. It complies with the requirements of the French National Education system, complemented by a personalized approach to children and the transmission of Christian values.

Having begun with a single class of 6 pupils, then a nursery class combined with before- and after-school care programs, the school now has 22 pupils, two teachers and a teachers’ aid to look after them.

Étincelle’s desire is to be a place of formation where children discover their identity and their calling into the mission of impacting society. It is also an “oasis” where many children come to find confidence, self-esteem, and a taste for learning and peaceful relationships.

For the upcoming school year Étincelle expects to reach 33 pupils. They need more funds, either to expand the current space or to move downtown to acquire more presence and influence; they trust in God’s leading in their choice and direction.

They also hope to achieve financial equilibrium, as finances do not currently cover operating needs, or the ability to pay better salaries, which are at the lowest end of the French salary scale. The school director is currently unpaid.

Their most urgent need is the purchase of teaching materials and interior furnishings, as well as outdoor facilities to protect pupils from the elements year-round.
