“Le Cap” Support Center
The following is a description of a ministry project of Impact France in collaboration with Connect .
“Le Cap” Support Center
At a time when storms are commonplace in the town of Brest, Le Cap aims to be a place of refuge open to all, promoting social ties, rejuvenation and soul care.
Le CAP is an acronym for Centre d’Accueil et d’Accompagnement Psychologique (Reception and Psychological Support Center), two vocations carried out in the working-class neighborhood of St Martin in Brest. Le Cap’s name also embodies its focus and determination, as the saying “garder le cap” in French means to keep a steady course regardless of winds and tides.
Offered for free on the basis of suggested donations, the personal support sessions focus on psychological care, while offering spiritual support to those who desire it. Since God is at work in each individual’s life and leaves them free to make their own choices, this type of care represents Jesus, a testimony to His love, and the possibility of turning a new page in life.
Food distributions for 15-25 people are also held weekly in Le Cap. Welcoming people, talking to them, and enjoying a cup of coffee all contribute to a positive atmosphere and a reminder of each person’s individual dignity as a unique and marvellous creature.
Additionally, art exhibitions punctuate the life of Le Cap. Their aesthetic and symbolic richness invite an engagement of the heart and for people to discover new paths of life. Like expressions of the approaching Kingdom of God, these canvases evoke a possible journey and free, authentic personal access to God.
To be able to rent this space now and for the long term, to provide basic necessities including internet access, and to graciously offer psychological support inspired by the Word, consistent financial support is needed. Through your generosity, you can help bring the light of the Gospel to this area of Brest!
