Marseille Ministry Cafe & Church Plant

Marseille Ministry Café is a community café in the St Just neighborhood of Marseille. As an affiliated ministry of a local church, it is a place where Christians serve and love neighbors through a welcoming atmosphere, weekly group activities and workshops, and larger periodic evets. The community experiences blessing, relationships are developed with regulars, and conversations about faith happen. The partner church has see a noticeable increase in its base of regulars thanks to this ministry.

Due to its success since opening in 2022, this café will open a second location just north of the city center of Marseille as part of a church-planting project. This area of the city is under major redevelopment: warehouses and factories that had been vacated are being demolished to allow for new residential and commercial construction alongside planned developments, including new public and private schools and other educational structures. To the east is one of the poorest neighborhoods in France and to the north are the “northern neighborhoods” of Marseille, notorious for the socio-economic challenges present there. It is an area with great ministry opportunities and needs.

Starting as a café allows the project team to develop a regular presence in and serving this vulnerable community. They can love and bless others and build relationships, allowing them to bear witness to Jesus Christ. Additionally, through replicating the first location’s proven model, the café should become self-sustaining within 18 months, meaning the church plant will have no heavy financial burden to bear.

In order to accomplish this dual-project, start-up funds are necessary that will allow the project team to lease and renovate a site, and operate the café during the ramp-up phase. Initial start-up costs are estimated at 70,000€ and annual expenses at 60,000€.

Please consider financially partnering with the Marseille Ministry Café to see the successful launch of its second location and a new community blessed with the love of Christ!
